Boxing Right Uppercut

Boxing Right Uppercut demonstration

How to do it

  1. 1From a boxing stance, throw a right uppercut by driving through the right foot and rotating the hips and torso while bringing the right fist up a tight arc.

Coaching cues

  • Stand in orthodox stance: left foot forward, right foot back, knees soft, hands up at chin, elbows in.
  • Settle a bit into the right hip with the right heel light and core braced.
  • Drive from the floor—push through the ball of the right foot and rotate the hips and torso to the left.
  • As you rotate, bring the right fist up close to your body in a vertical arc, palm facing you, elbow ~90°, exhaling on the punch.
  • Stop at chin-to-nose height without overreaching; keep the left hand guarding your face.
  • Retract the right hand along the same path, reset your hips, and repeat smoothly for reps or time.
